"HEADS UP!" (2019)

Acrylic and inked pen on cotton canvas

Being raised in a small city where I was constantly surrounded by people. I have developed a habit of observing people around me, and as an artist, managed to merge the element of “crowdedness” and “chaotic-ness”in my work. In Heads Up!, I painted out the ever-changing emotions of myself when being in a packed space, mainly due to anxiety, and presented it in a form of “pop chaos”. The vibrant colours that resembles candy wrappers were spread out purposefully in hopes to lure the audience in, until the uncomfortable faces on the canvas puts them off, creating a contradicting feeling inside the audience themselves.
